An interactive, game-based mobile application designed to raise cybersecurity awareness among secondary school students.
Despite the tremendous cybersecurity educational shift to online platforms, there remains a lack of cybersecurity awareness among secondary students in Bahrain. This has led to increased levels of vulnerability to cyber threats. 50% of Bahraini parents still apply controls to safeguard their children.
Cybersecurity games promise to increase awareness by providing basic technical skills, skill levels, and learning objectives. This study aims to raise awareness of cybersecurity among Bahraini secondary school students through interactive games by developing and evaluating the mobile-based application “MACS”.
MACS follows an Agile Software Development Life Cycle and was developed using Android SDK. Usability evaluation based on Nielsen heuristics revealed a usability score of 96.77%, indicating excellent user acceptance.
MACS follows a client-based mobile architecture where the Android application manages UI, logic, and local data storage, supporting authentication, progress tracking, and evaluation data collection.
